YASKAWA Electric Corporation (Junji Tsuda, President) was designated a Green Asia International Strategic Comprehensive Special Zone corporaion by Fukuoka Prefecture on May 8, 2012.
On December 22, 2011, Fukuoka Prefecture, Kitakyushu City and Fukuoka City were granted, in accordance with the Cabinet Office’s Comprehensive Special Zone System, the status of a Green Asia International Strategic Comprehensive Special Zone.
Anchored by the theme of ‘Asia and the Environment’, businesses are to be developed on the basis of the four key concepts of ‘Asian development through the packaging of urban infrastructure’, ‘realizing environmentally friendly products and manufacturing facilities’, ‘establishing resource recycling systems’ and ‘achieving a seamless business environment with Asia’.
YASKAWA is currently focusing on green energy, accelerating the rate of expansion of its business in the field of environmental energy and striving towards ‘the development of environmentally friendly products and the building of their production facilities’ which is one of the business aims specified for the Green Asia International Strategic Comprehensive Special Zone. The alignment of our business activities with the operational aims of the Green Asia International Strategic Comprehensive Special Zone is the reason why we have received the designation and, in fact, YASKAWA is the first company to have been so designated in any of the seven International Strategic Comprehensive Special Zones in Japan.
As a result of our designation, we shall be able to receive special tax treatment in the event of any future capital expenditure etc. that meets the necessary conditions specified.
