YASKAWA Electric Corporation (Head Office: Kita-Kyushu, Fukuoka, Japan; Representative Director, Chairman of the Board, President: Hiroshi Ogasawara) is pleased to announce that its Motion Control Division and Robotics Division received third-party certification under IEC 62443-4-1, an international standard that specifies process requirements for the development of secured products used in industrial automation and control systems, in December 2022.
In recent years, there has been an increase in efforts to make factories smarter by connecting devices in factories through data, but at the same time, the threat of cyber attacks against factories is increasing. Therefore, security measures are becoming increasingly important in control systems on the factory floor that connect to the IT domain.
IEC 62443 -4 -1 specifies requirements for developing secure industrial equipment across the entire development life cycle, including design, manufacturing and maintenance. By receiving certification to this standard, the company will be able to provide secure products and facilitate customers to build systems that support control security.
Yaskawa is proposing i3-Mechatronics, a solution concept that integrates production automation with the use of digital data, and is promoting the smartening of factories where devices in factories are connected and linked by data. The Motion Control Division and Robotics Division manufacture motion controllers, AC servo drives and industrial robots that will be the mainstay products of i3-Mechatronics, and we will make further proposals that will allow customers to continue to use our products with confidence even in a smart factory..
