RoadPrintz Inc. has implemented long reach model for painting of road markings.
RoadPrintz Inc. develops road painting systems with robots mounted on trucks. In this system, Yaskawa robot MOTOMAN-GP20HL was adopted.
The robot is mounted on a customized truck featuring a reinforced suspension, 3-phase power unit, and high-precision GPS with a sensor package. An engineer can control the robot inside the truck with simple drag and drop operations. In addition, the GP20HL has a large work area but small interference area, so it can operate even at short/close distances between the robot and other equipment. This innovative system enables safe, accurate, and low-cost painting of road markings.
– The systems can reduce labor and cost per mile.
– The safety is improved by the ability to work in the truck.
– Robots can paint 30% faster than conventional methods.
Yaskawa’s robot capabilities have improved paint quality. The combined use of MotoPlus™ SDK software and tools from the Robot Operating System (ROS)*1 provided the functionality to coordinate motion between the end-of-arm tooling and the robot arm for very precise painting.
