YASKAWA Electric Corporation (Head Office: Kitakyushu, Japan, President: Junji Tsuda; YASKAWA Electric hereafter) today announced the start of AC drive production and shipments at YASKAWA Electric India Private Limited, which is located in Bengaluru, India.

　YASKAWA Electric has taken many actions to expand its business operations in growing markets, chiefly in Asia, under the “Challenge 100” Medium-term Business Plan (2009-2012). With the assistance of Indian sales partner Larsen & Toubro (L&T hereafter), YASKAWA Electric has been selling its products in India since the 1990s. Growth in demand for YASKAWA Electric products is expected to continue in India over the medium and long terms. To become more cost competitive in India and provide even better services to customers, YASKAWA Electric India was established in August 2010.

　YASKAWA Electric India has started shipping AC drives now that the installation of equipment and other preparations to begin manufacturing operations have been completed. The new factory that started full-scale operations occupies a site of about 5,100 square meters and plans to have about 100 workers by March 2012. YASKAWA Electric India plans to increase annual output capacity of the AC drive 1000 series, its main product, to 40,000 units. YASKAWA Electric India aims to raise its market share while making more gains in customer satisfaction. To accomplish these goals, this company will further deepen ties between the solution proposal expertise and service network of L&T and the manufacturing and technological support skills of YASKAWA Electric.
