Yaskawa to Acquire Solectria Renewables, LLC, a U.S. Supplier of Photovoltaic (PV) Inverters

 Yaskawa Electric Corporation (“Yaskawa Electric” Representative Director, Chairman and President: Junji Tsuda) has reached an agreement to enter into a contract to acquire all shares of Solectria Renewables, LLC (“Solectria”), a U.S. supplier of PV inverters, through Yaskawa America, Inc., a consolidated subsidiary of Yaskawa Electric.

1. Reason for acquisition

 Solectria develops, manufactures and sells high performance PV inverters in the Americas with strong competitiveness and solid customer base especially in the high capacity PV inveter market for large scale power generation.
 This acquisition will allow Yaskawa Electric to enter into the U.S. photovoltaic generation market with world’s leading scale as well as mid and long term growth potential. We will meet a variety of customer needs in the U.S. with broader lineup of Yaskawa’s small and medium capacity products marketed in Japan and Solectria’s large capacity products. By utilizing the broad product lineup and know-how, we will accelerate the global development of our Environment and Energy business. At the same time, by merging Solectria’s business and our industrial drives business in the Americas, we will create synergy in development, manufacturing and sales, which will lead Yaskawa America to grow further and enhance profitability.
