Yaskawa Electric Corporation (“YASKAWA Electric” Representative Director, President: Hiroshi Ogasawara) announces that it establishes a production base for industrial robots in Slovenia, which has been passed by a board of directors on October 20, 2016. In response to the growing demand for industrial robots in Europe, it will be established as a new production base besides the robot plants in Fukuoka, Japan and the subsidiary in Jiangsu province, China.
As the emerging nations’ economies develop, and new markets emerge in the medical and nursing-care sectors, etc. affected by the dwindling birth rate and an aging population, the global robot market is expected to grow significantly in the medium- and long-term. In order to meet the growing demand for robots, we need to expand our production capacity, which led to the resolution to establish a new production base.
Currently we produce robots in Japan and in China. In addition to these two locations, we will establish a new production base in Ribnica, Slovenia, and realize a speedy supply to EMEA region by building a new supply chain.
The impact of the establishment on the consolidated performance is expected to be minor.
